Adirondack Region

Places To Stay

For years the Adirondacks has played host to people from throughout the state and the world with grandiose lakeside resorts, quaint B&B’s, and roadside Inns. Check out our favorites below…

The Sagamore Resort - Bolton Landing

Originally built in 1883, The Sagamore has welcomed many wealthy and influential people as well as families looking for an upscale experience that harkens another era. There is no way to be bored here with a myriad of activity options. From relaxing poolside with a cocktail while overlooking Lake George, a boat ride on The Morgan (the resort’s 72 foot cruiser), a round of golf at their Donald Ross designed course, a spa day, and gourmet dining options - there is plenty to do. There is also a peaceful serenity you feel here that allows you to decompress while experiencing the best of modern conveniences.

Mirror Lake Inn

Mirror Lake Inn - Lake Placid

Lake Placid is a four season destination with plenty of options year round and the Mirror Lake Inn is our favorite place to stay there. On one of our winter trips there it was -15 degrees, and even though we didn’t step outside until it warmed up, we still found plenty of things to do. With a great spa, indoor pool, numerous dining options - including a restaurant right on Mirror Lake, or just sitting in front of a fireplace with a hot toddie, all of the experiences here are top notch at this award winning hotel.

The Point - Saranac Lake

Originally constructed as the Rockefellers summer getaway destination, The Point has all of the charm and elegance that you would imagine that the world’s first billionaire would build. It also comes with a price tag that only wealthy people could afford at over $2000 a night. It is definitely worth the price with nightly 5 course wine pairing meals made by a chef who has worked at Michelin rated restaurants, and in room massage options. So if you can afford it, this is a place that will make you feel like a Rockefeller.

Lake Placid Lodge - Lake Placid

Many people who visit Lake Placid don’t realize that the lake they see in the main retail area is Mirror Lake and Lake Placid is actually a few miles away. But it is worth it to stay a few miles away to experience the wonderful Lake Placid Lodge! The peaceful tranquility of a lake in your backyard, helps you to wash the stress of life away and relax for awhile. When you get hungry, the food at Artisans Restaurant that includes favorites like Oysters, Waygu Ribeye, and Lobster Bisque is definitely upscale dining fare.

Big Moose Inn - Eagle Bay

The town of Inlet is at the top of the Fulton chain of Lakes, but just 7 miles from there is Big Moose Lake and a quaint hotel that sits right on said lake - The Big Moose Inn. Though it isn’t as upscale as some of the others on this list, but it makes up for it with charm and character. Sitting on the back porch with a glass of wine or going for a canoe ride on the serene lake is the perfect way to wash your stress away.

Great Camp Sagamore - Raquette Lake

This great resort that was owned by the Vanderbilt family for many years, now is available to everyone. With group dining in the beautiful Dining Hall with excellent food, to rustic and beautiful traditional Adirondack rooms, this is a great place to stay on your Adirondack getaway. It is only open from June to October, but if you love the ADK’s, you will love this place.
