Finger Lakes Region

Places To Stay

Grand Resorts that make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time to 16th Century France, quaint B&B’s that harken back to a simpler time, and roadside Inns to rest your head after a long day. The accommodations are endless in the Finger Lakes Region. Here are our faves…

Mirbeau - Skaneateles

This is the most unique and best place to stay in the Finger Lakes region! From the moment that you step onto the property, you feel as if you have been transported to 16th century France in a luxury setting that immediately dissolves any stress that you may have. A trip to the on-site spa that has a waiting room with a foot bath and soothing music whilst you wait for your massage evokes those same qualities. The outdoor heated pool that is attached to the spa provides year round warmth and relaxation as well. And no great hotel would be complete without a great restaurant and bar, right? Check and check. Your stay here isn’t cheap, but it is well worth it to experience this magical destination.

Belhurst Castle - Geneva

Originally built in 1820, Belhurst Castle has an amazing history as a glorious mansion, speakeasy and casino during prohibition, and finally a beautiful hotel, spa, and winery that is a close 2nd to Mirbeau as the Best Place to Stay in the Finger Lakes! One unique perk of staying in one of the rooms in the Castle is that there are spigots in the hallway that dispense wine for free any time of day or night. In all of our travels, that is something we’ve never seen before. Besides staying in the castle, there is a less expensive hotel that is on the property that still gives guests all of the amenities that the castle does. The grounds have a beautiful view of Seneca Lake and after a great day in the Finger Lakes, you can have a glass of your favorite libation as you sit around the outdoor patio fireplace to soak in the sights and sounds while recounting the experiences of your Seneca Lake day.

The Strathallan - Rochester

The Strath as people here call it is Rochester’s premier upscale hotel. With all of the trimmings that you would expect from a place of this caliber - fine dining at Char, rooftop cocktails and sushi at Hattie’s, a spa, and wonderfully appointed rooms, it is the place for upscale tourists and businessmen alike to stay when they are in Rochester.

The Harbour House - Watkins Glen

Seneca Lake has a lot to see and do, and when you get to the end of the lake, the Harbor House is the perfect place to lay your head. With a back patio that has a beautiful view of the lake as you sip a great glass of wine that was made 5 miles away, it is the ultimate destination a traveller in need of relaxation. If that isn’t enough, the indoor hot tub or pool might call your name. We’ve stayed here many times and it has always been suberb.

The Lakehouse on Canandaigua - Canandaigua

This newly renovated Inn on Canandaigua Lake has been turning heads with the accommodations and views from the north end of Canandaigua Lake. The Sands family, of Constellation Brands, bought the hotel to make it the best lodging in the upscale area that they live in. This is truly an impressive place to stay with all of the upscale trimmings that guests want - a spa, pool, fine dining restaurant, and a outdoor bar right on the Lake.

The Inn on Broadway - Rochester

In 1909 this boutique hotel started as the University Club of Rochester where the college elite could congregate in downtown Rochester. Over 100 years later it still retains its historic charm and elegance with luxurious amenities and fantastic rooms. The restaurant at the Inn, Tournedos is one of the five best restaurants in the Finger Lakes region as well. The charm and character of this hotel makes it a must stay when you are in the Finger Lakes region.

del Lago Casino & Resort - Waterloo

If you want to stay at a place that is a hotel, casino, spa, concert venue, high-end shopping plaza, and restaurant, there is only one place in the Finger Lakes Region to find that - Del Lago. The goal is for you to never have to leave the property during your stay, but if you decide you want to do something else like a wine tour or see the actual Finger Lakes, they are not that far away and they have excursions to take you so that you don’t have to worry about driving.

The Lodge at Woodcliff - Victor

Woodcliff is another upscale resort that has a lot going on. As one of the highest points in the Rochester area, the view from their gourmet restaurant, Horizons, is breathtaking. With the heated outdoor whirlpool, on-site spa, 9 hole golf course, exercise facility, and events center - you have the entire gamut of things to do under one roof. With its location on the east side of the Rochester suburbs, you are a short drive to the Finger Lakes and all of the activities there.
